Skilled and employer-sponsored visas depend on your occupation being on the right list. Search by job title or ANZSCO code to see the lists your occupation is on (MLTSSL, STSOL, ROL or CSOL), its assessing authority and the visas it can be used for.

Plain-English answers to the questions we are asked most often.
Type your job title or ANZSCO code into the finder. Each result shows the occupation lists it is on, the assessing authority for your skills assessment and the visas it can be used for.
The Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and Regional Occupation List (ROL) are used for skilled visas such as the 189, 190, 491 and 494, and for the 485 Post-Vocational stream. The Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) is used for the Skills in Demand (482) Core Skills stream and the 186 Direct Entry stream.
For the Skilled Independent (189) visa, your occupation must be on the MLTSSL. The Skilled Nominated (190) visa can also use the STSOL, and the Skilled Work Regional (491) visa can use the STSOL and the ROL. Each state also sets its own nomination lists.
ANZSCO is the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations. Each occupation has a 6-digit code. The CSOL uses the 2022 ANZSCO codes, while the other lists still use the 2013 codes, so the finder shows both where they differ.
The organisation that assesses whether your qualifications and experience suit your nominated occupation, for example ACS for ICT occupations, Engineers Australia for engineers and VETASSESS for many general professions. Most skilled visas need a positive skills assessment.
No. Being on a list only makes the occupation eligible. You still need a positive skills assessment, enough points or a sponsor, and to meet English, age, health and character requirements. Some occupations also have caveats that exclude certain positions.
The lists are updated from time to time by legislative instrument. The finder shows the date it was last checked against the official list.
No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser. What you enter is not sent to Aussie ASEAN, Home Affairs or anyone else, and we never ask for your passport number or ImmiAccount password.
