Reuniting families across
past, present, future

The family stream of visa applications is designed for parents and children of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens, including NZ citizens on temporary visas. Depending on the type of application, it may lead to a temporary or permanent residency visa. Each application is assessed based on your relationship with your Australian, PR, or eligible New Zealand family member.
It is a temporary partner visa that allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia while waiting for a permanent partner visa decision.
Designed for people outside Australia who are in a genuine relationship with an Australian partner.
The Subclass 820 Visa is the Partner (Temporary) Visa for people who are already in Australia and want to stay with their spouse or de facto partner. It is the first stage of the onshore partner visa pathway and is usually applied for together with the Subclass 801 permanent partner visa.
The Subclass 300 Visa is called the Prospective Marriage Visa (also known as the Fiancé Visa). It is for people who are outside Australia and are engaged to marry an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. It allows the applicant to come to Australia, marry their partner, and then apply for a partner visa.
