Business courses for international students range from the Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420) and Advanced Diploma (BSB60420) to a 3-year Bachelor of Business, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a Master of Business Analytics, which usually take 1 to 2 years. Business degrees lead to many careers, but most general management roles are not on the points-tested skilled lists. If permanent residence is a goal, analytics, data, accounting or a specialised field usually gives a clearer pathway. Bachelor and master's graduates may qualify for the 485 visa.

| Bachelor of Business | AQF 7 | 3 years | Graduate roles in marketing, HR, management, analytics and finance |

A business degree builds broad skills, but most general management roles are not on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List used for the Skilled Independent (189) visa. Some business occupations are on the Short-term or Regional lists for state nomination, and many are on the Core Skills Occupation List for employer sponsorship. Analytics courses can lead to Data Analyst or ICT Business Analyst roles, assessed by ACS.
The Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420, 12 units) and Advanced Diploma (BSB60420) are popular with students who already have work experience. They can give credit into a bachelor degree. A VET diploma usually does not count towards the 485 Post-Higher Education Work stream.

Plain-English answers to the questions we are asked most often.
An MBA alone does not lead to PR. Most general management occupations are not on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List. Some are available for state nomination or employer sponsorship, so your work experience and occupation matter more than the MBA itself.
Most MBAs take 1 to 2 years full time. Some accept students with management experience into shorter programs.
Business analytics focuses on using data to make business decisions. Data science goes deeper into programming, statistics and machine learning. Both can lead to Data Analyst roles, which ACS assesses.
It suits students with work experience who want practical management skills or credit into a degree. As a VET course it does not lead to the 485 Post-Higher Education Work stream.
Yes. Student visa holders can work up to 48 hours a fortnight while their course is in session and unlimited hours in scheduled breaks.
It depends on your background. Analytics, accounting and supply chain roles are in demand, while general management roles usually need experience. We can compare options for you.
